Fuzhou subway offers free ride for life to baby born on platform

A woman delivered a baby on the platform of a subway station with the help of subway staff members and paramedics in Fuzhou, Fujian province, on Tuesday.
The mother showed signs of labor approaching at around 11 am at Nanmendou Station in Fuzhou while waiting for train. Her family members accompanying her immediately called for ambulance.
While waiting for the paramedics, the station set up a temporary ward using a screen around a bench, and used the station's broadcast system to seek medical assistance.
Soon the paramedics arrived and decided to help the woman deliver the baby at the subway station, as they found the woman's water had broken and the baby's head had come out.
With the assistance of two subway staff members, the delivery was carried out in the temporary ward. At the same time, other subway staff members helped divert the passengers.
The whole delivery process went smoothly and the woman gave birth to a healthy girl, her second child, at around 12 pm. They were taken to the hospital afterwards, and both the mother and the baby were in good condition.
According to Fuzhou Metro, the baby also gets a "free subway ride for life" in Fuzhou as she was the first "subway baby" in the city.
