Association formed to enhance English education in energy sector


China Energy English Association (CEEA) was founded on Dec 21, a move witnessed by 120 scholars and experts specialized in foreign Language study from 41 universities across the country.
Representatives from China University of Mining and Technology, Shanghai University of Electric Power, North China Electric Power University, China University of Petroleum (Beijing) and other universities and institutions that focus on energy education and research have been granted membership of the association.
Han Shangfeng, vice-president of CUP, said the establishment of CEEA will drive forward the improvement of foreign language education in universities, help cultivate high-quality talents for energy sector and facilitate cross-culture exchanges and international collaborations in the energy-related fields.
After the association's launch ceremony, a symposium was held to discuss ways to improve academic English writing skills for journal publication, use interdisciplinary approach to vitalize foreign language education and upgrade the curricula, teaching methods and content so as to better serve the country's strategic demands.
