Merck unveils unique logo for China operations


Leading science and technology company Merck unveiled its dedicated Chinese logo during the third China International Import Expo to highlight its "in China for China" focus.
Together with the new investment plans and partnerships unveiled during the event, the logo symbolizes the firm's "respect for local culture and regard for the market", said Allan Gabor, president of Merck China and managing director of Merck Performance Materials China.
"China is on the way to becoming a leading high-tech nation…and a world market leader in innovation. Merck intends to take an active role in shaping this transformation," Gabor said.
"Therefore, it's important for us to launch a brand-new Chinese Merck logo specially designed for China which shows our unique brand culture while integrating into the China market."
The company also announced that it will invest 18 million euros ($21.3 million) to build its newest and most comprehensive electronics technology center in Shanghai to accelerate its electronic materials strategy.
The facility, which is scheduled to be completed and put into use in the first half of 2022, will provide local customers and partners with comprehensive technology services and customized solutions to facilitate the development of the integrated circuit manufacturing industry.
Meanwhile, Merck Innovation Hub China has released a white paper on the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. The paper is aimed at advancing the development and cooperation of the innovation ecosphere, especially in the realms of healthcare, life science and performance materials.
