China witnessed a rapid growth in the rate of copyright registrations last year, with several provinces reporting year-on-year increases of 100 percent or more, the country's copyright regulator said on Friday.

In 2024, over 10 million copyrights were registered, marking a 19.13 percent year-on-year increase, according to the National Copyright Administration.

Beijing led in registrations, followed by Fujian and Shandong provinces, the administration said, adding that the growth rate of copyright registrations in many provinces, including Shanxi and Henan, exceeded 100 percent compared to 2023.

Nearly 55 percent of the total registered works were art pieces, with the remainder consisting of photographs, literature, films and television programs, it showed.
