US trade tension with China will hurt American farmers: media

The United States' trade tension with China will hurt American farmers, CNN reported on April 13.
China and the US rely on each other for trade, although the relationship is uneven, the report said.
China mainly buys agricultural products from the US, such as soybeans, oilseeds and grains. Soybean imports from the US already took a hit during previous US-China trade tension with Brazilian soybean exports to China growing by over 280 percent since 2010, according to the report.
The US agricultural sector lost around $27 billion during the 2018 trade tension, with 71 percent of the losses being soybean-related, according to the American Soybean Association as reported by CNN.
The report also indicated that China is strengthening cooperation with other trading partners, such as the Association of Southeast Asian Nations and the European Union.
