CPC ready to work with SCO political parties, organizations on a new security framework

The Communist Party of China is willing to work with political parties and organizations from the Shanghai Cooperation Organization to jointly build a new security framework characterized by shared safety, seeking common ground while reserving differences, and dialogue-based consultation, said Liu Jianchao, head of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee.
Liu made the remarks at a forum of political parties from the SCO, which opened in Urumqi, northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, on Wednesday.
The two-day forum gathered over 200 representatives of more than 60 political parties from SCO member states, observer states, and dialogue partners to discuss the role of political parties in promoting the sustainable development of the organization.
The CPC is also ready to leverage the role of political parties and organizations in promoting economic cooperation through enhanced political interactions, and strengthen party communication and coordination to promote mutual understanding and friendship?among peoples, Liu said.
China proposed holding the SCO Political Party Forum on a regular basis to expand communication channels, enrich exchanges, and further consolidate the SCO political party network, he said.
SCO Secretary-General Nurlan Yermekbayev told the forum that amid rising geopolitical conflicts and trade restrictions such as protectionism, the role and basic principles of the SCO have been highlighted in safeguarding peace, security and stability.
As political parties from the SCO gather to jointly uphold the "Shanghai Spirit" and promote the sustainable development of the organization, the efforts will strongly contribute to deepening consensus on the concept of a new type of international relations and fostering mutual learning and the sharing of governance experiences, he said.
Emomali Rahmon, president of Tajikistan and head of the People's Democratic Party of Tajikistan, said in his congratulatory message to the forum that political parties of the SCO should work together to create favorable conditions for regional and international cooperation, including expanding interparty exchanges.
Representatives from parties of various countries stressed that as the cornerstone of democracy and the voice of the people, political parties must stand at the forefront of tackling global challenges such as climate change, poverty, and extremism.
As key actors in national governance and policymaking, political parties shoulder a major responsibility in ensuring fairness, sharing development opportunities, and safeguarding economic globalization, they said.
The called for deepening interparty exchanges, promoting dialogue among civilizations, advancing youth exchanges and enhancing unity and cooperation.
The forum was co-organized by the International Department of the CPC Central Committee and the CPC Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Regional Committee.
