Li Yuanchao has replaced He Guoqiang as head of the Organization Department leaving his former position of secretary of the Jiangsu Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), it was announced on Friday.

He Guoqiang was elected a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and secretary of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection at the first plenary session of the 17th CPC Central Committee earlier in the week.

These are the first personnel changes announced since the conclusion of the first plenary session of the 17th CPC Central Committee.
