Automatic approval for textile exports to take effect

A Chinese provisional regulation on automatic approval for textile exports will take effect on March 1, the Ministry of Commerce said Friday.

Automatic approval will step up the statistical analysis and monitoring of China's textile export, to release timely warnings to traders on textile exports, said the ministry.

This regulation is one of the measures China has taken since the global textile quotas were scrapped on January 1 this year.

Observers noted that these measures indicated China's responsible attitude as a major textile exporter and were expected to stimulate the export of quality Chinese textiles and readjust the growth pattern and the restructuring of the textile industry.

China's textile and clothing exports totaled US$97.385 billion last year, according to the General Administration of Customs.

China also imposed a quantity-based tariff system on six categories of exported textiles following the end of the quota system.
