A group of tea experts from home and abroad gathered in the coastal city of Xiamen, East China's Fujian province, on Dec 10, and shared their insights into the future development of the Chinese tea industry.
Liu Zhonghua, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, stated that cooperation between the tea industries in Fujian and Taiwan has continued to deepen, with mutual learning in processing techniques and accelerated innovation in business models.
With the overseas expansion of Chinese tea brands, some leading Chinese tea companies are embracing the international market. Renowned tea company Huaxiangyuan held a global strategic press conference in Xiamen on the same day, announcing that it will further accelerate the international market layout of Chinese tea.
Xiao Wenhua, chairman of Huaxiangyuan, stated that after the strategic upgrade, the company will take on the mission of promoting Chinese tea to the world, continue to connect the world with tea culture, and demonstrate China's determination and confidence to the world.
At the meeting, Liu stated that Fujian is the birthplace of oolong tea, while Taiwan is an important producer of oolong tea. Fujian has become the most active region on the mainland for deepening agricultural cooperation with Taiwan, and the tea industry has become a bridge for agricultural cooperation and exchanges between the two sides of the Strait.
Ian Gibbs, president of the International Tea Committee, praised the international dissemination of Chinese tea companies and expressed hope that Chinese tea companies can continue to inject vitality into the global tea industry and the intermingling of different tea cultures.
