 hustler: 妓女

繼“伏明霞臟褲子”、“李湘蕩婦裝”和“趙薇軍旗裝”等事件之后，漂亮的孫儷因一件“妓女”T恤再次出盡風頭。4月6日，女演員孫儷一張新寫真照片在網上流傳，照片中孫儷穿了一件前胸印有英文單詞“HUSTLER”的T恤。“Hustler”在俚語中表示“妓女，拉皮條”。面對公眾的指責，孫儷的經紀人連忙喊冤，說“HUSTLER”這個單詞的意思是“積極向上的人”，在俚語中才是“妓女”。

Hustler在英語中確實有多種涵義，先看引起輿論嘩然的“妓女”一意，在俚語中，hustler可以解釋為： a prostitute who attracts customers by walking the streets（到街上拉客的妓女），其同義詞有：streetwalker或street girl。
另外，俚語中，hustler也可解釋為：a shrewd or unscrupulous person who knows how to circumvent difficulties（精明的算計者，騙子，賭徒），如：Our neighbors paid thousands of dollars to that hustler. （我們的鄰居被那個騙子騙了幾千元。） 1962年奧斯卡獲獎影片“The Hustler”，其中文譯名為《江湖浪子》，影片以寫實手法描寫了以打臺球賭博為生的年輕職業球手艾迪所生存的的殘酷世界。
再來看孫儷經紀人的解釋：an intensely energetic, enthusiastic person（洋溢著朝氣、充滿活力的人）。如：In my opinion，Jim is a hustler who never gives up in life and keeps hustling through out trials and tribulations.（在我看來，吉姆總是充滿熱情應對生活的挫折和艱難，從未放棄過對生活的希望）。
既然經紀人已幫助澄清了這個不大不小的誤會，“妓女”T恤風波似乎也該到此為止。但是，這些看似偶遇的事件確實也給我們敲了個警鐘：“善用”英文單詞哦，尤其是在您購買印有外文字母樣式的服裝時，怪僻的詞值得一番推敲！
