tax shelter就是指“避稅”，有時也稱為“稅收庇護”，和我們常說的tax evasion、tax fraud（偷稅、騙稅）是不同的。
over-the-counter market（OTC）就是指“店頭市場”，也被稱為“柜臺市場”、“場外市場”，在外匯市場中，它指銀行對銀行或對客戶直接報價、議價所完成的交易。
over-leverage就是經濟領域的“過度杠桿化”，而de-leverage就是“去杠桿化”。金融領域的杠桿操作是指用較少的錢來“撬動”較多的資本。
short selling就是我們在股市里經常提到的“賣空”或“作空”，英語中也作shorting或going short。這樣的股票投資者被稱為short seller。
Down payment的本意是指a partial payment made at the time of purchase，即“首付，定金”，如：We ask for a five-percent down payment.
flag-down fare 就是指the minimum charge for hiring a taxi, to which the rate per kilometer is added（出租車“起步價”），它還可以用flag-down rate或flag-fall rate來表示。
，foreclosure就是指the legal proceedings initiated by a creditor to repossess the collateral for loan that is in default，“止贖權”，也稱“喪失抵押品贖回權”
a windfall tax就是指a one-time direct tax on an unexpectedly large profit，即“暴利稅”或“特別收益金”。這個用法也可以寫成Windfall Profits Tax (WPT)。
